The Dachshund is a short-legged hound dog breed, weighing between 7-15 Kgs on an average.
The Dachshund was developed in Germany. The breed was originally developed to scent, chase, flush and also hunt small animals like rabbits, rats, mice etc.
Dachshunds are a short-haired breed with a fine and smooth coat with a wide variety of colours. The dominant colours are red, black and tan.
Dachshunds are long-bodied muscular dogs with short thick legs. They are clever, lovely, friendly and loyal family pet dog.
Dachshunds are a common sight in dog shows, conformation shows and field trials. They are also trained to participate in dog races.
Dachshunds have an instinct of chasing birds, small animals, and show a great determination in chasing tennis fetch balls.
